The scene opens to a locker room in the HEW Arena. In front of a locker sitting on a bench is a figure that is illuminated by a sole, shining white spotlight. The man is wearing a white suit and black shirt, and the left side of his face is obscured by a white Phantom of the Opera style mask, emblazoned with a black crucifix in the center of the forehead. The man looks up at the camera and he begins to speak.
Matthews: Brothers and sisters in Christ, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am one of the newer signings to Hollywood Elite Wrestling, the Reverend Jerry Matthews, known mostly to others as "The Evangelist." And, soon, each and every one of you will be able to enjoy me partaking in one my favorite pastimes, laying down a fierce beating on whatever heathen has the displeasure of being across from me in the ring.
"Obviously, HEW management has expressed a desire to clean up their content and to provide a more family friendly product for their audience. And, I can't say I blame them, considering that an African savage has been free to run around completely unabated. HEW is simply the next stop in the national tour I've decided to put myself through. For far too long, man has sat back and spit on everything the Good Book has taught us. How to live, how to treat each other, how to properly honor God the Father and his Son, the only begotten Savior of man himself, Jesus Christ. And, in terms of the professional wrestling industry, HEW is no better than any of the other promotions I've competed in."
"And, friends, the table is set for quite an example to be made. Especially in the case of Mickey "Jackpot" Shamrock. The man's taste in music alone is enough of a grounds to want to instill the fear of God in him, but his overall conduct as a human is far worse. Heavily imbibing in alcoholic spirits and only God knows what else has ensured him a place deep in the bowels of Hell. And, personally, I will take great satisfaction in making sure that his one-way ticket gets punched ahead of schedule."
"Scott Green is a man that has the backstory of a Marvel comics character. A man obsessed with his own twisted sense of honor, who is convinced that he will be some sort of martyr that will make Los Angeles the true City of Angels once more. Needless to say, Green is highly mistaken. Perhaps he sustained a head injury during his five year stay on his little island paradise. But, he will be doing no such thing. Only an ordained man of God, such as myself, could ever hope to purge the cesspool that is Los Angeles of all of its various evils and horrors. And, Green will share the same fate as Shamrock, simply for buying into the idea that he is some sort of superhero. God the Father has only created one man with the capabilities Green thinks he has, and that is Jesus Christ. For putting himself on a level as the divine, Green will be made an example of."
"El Mascara del Norte. A man who hides under a mask, like so many others in our industry. While I wear a mask, it is for quite a different reason as my luchador opponent. It isn't to preserve my identity, or out of some sense of honor and respect. It is because I was badly burned while performing the task given to me from on high. Del Norte, on the other hand, most likely wears his mask because he refuses to face the realities of life and the problems that come with it. I will caution Del Norte to enjoy the last night of his identity remaining secret, because I have every intention of removing his namesake, and showing off his ugly mug for the entire Orange County metropolitan area to see."
"So, brothers and sisters, brace yourselves. Because God has been paying close attention to Hollywood, and he has dispatched one of his fiercest messengers to make sure that things change around here. And, I assure you, they will. Or else. The Word of the Lord, Thanks Be to God."
With that, Matthews crosses himself, and then closes his eyes for a moment of prayer as the spotlight fades out and the scene fades to black.
